Beth Kerr: More Important Than Your Child’s Football Coach
Wellbeing consultant Beth Kerr shares some top tips for football parents on connecting with their kids. She suggests it’s all about making relationships a priority, not just when problems pop up.
Beth’s top tip? Your time is the best gift you can give. It’s not about spending hours together, but making those 20-30 minutes count. For boys especially, she suggests chatting while doing something together, rather than sitting face-to-face.
Here’s a surprise – texting can be a great way to keep in touch, especially if your young player finds it easier to open up that way. And don’t forget to watch for those non-verbal cues. Sometimes what they don’t say speaks volumes.
The bottom line? Keep those lines of communication open, however works best for your budding footballer.
