Chris Robinson: Scouts Can’t Predict the Future

In this Real Sideline Expert clip, Chris Robinson, a professional Scout of over 30 years, discusses the challenges of scouting young football players. He explains that while scouts can identify talent in 7-year-olds, predicting long-term success is impossible. Chris argues that scouts can assess current abilities and make short-term projections, but distinguishing between players in the middle tier is harder due to variables like having a bad day. He emphasises the importance of keeping expectations realistic when assessing young talent.
